The user notes that Apple Home currently only shows on/off toggles for smart plugs, but not native energy data. They desire the ability to see energy consumption statistics directly within Apple Home, similar to what Home Assistant or the IKEA app provides.
Hey everyone, just got my hands on the new Ikea Grillplats and made a video (German) about it. Since I know most of you don't have time for a full 15-minute video, here’s the **TL;DR:** * **Price:** It’s a steal at 8,99€ (or 12€ with the remote). Compared to Eve Energy (30-50€), it’s a no-brainer if you need more than one. * **Pairing:** Matter over Thread is great but can be "bitchy." Tip: Keep it close to your Border Router (Apple TV/HomePod) during the initial pairing, or it’ll fail. Also, make sure IPv6 is active in your network. * **Energy Monitoring:** Works perfectly in Home Assistant. I actually found out my Apple Studio Display pulls 15W in "standby" just by using this plug. (not supposed to) * **Apple Home Limitation:** You can use the Multi-Admin feature to get it into Apple Home, but heads up: Apple still doesn’t show native energy data. You’ll only see the on/off toggle. If you want the stats, you need Home Assistant or the IKEA app. * **Verdict:** It’s a massive win for IKEA.
