User suggests implementing a MicroSD Express reader to provide a significant performance boost due to its high speed and capacity.
Here are a couple of things that could help the pi imo, there is a new microsd technology that is called Microsd Express. it has a theoretical speed of up to 985mb per second and will have a much higher capacity than current microsd's. So if they implemented a microsd express reader in the pi you would get a really huge performance boost. Another thing is they are using broadcom chips.. maybe get a faster cpu/gpu based mediatek version instead and could help cut the costs possibly? Also, for the pi 5, 8 gigs should be the base version. I would like to have a faster cpu/gpu arm processor for desktop usage and using it a little more than just for game emulation. I would love if it became a viable little console and to see what people can come up with in terms of games with it's limitations.. look back at the ps2 and gamecube for example to see what it was capable of for the very limited power it had.. i think it would be really neat and to have a market to develop games around the pi's hardware. Maybe i am just dreaming here but they could open up a little pi game store with an app to buy games that indie dev's make for it and the pi foundation could get a good kickback from the sales as well. And also a AV1 decoder, as it will become the defacto standard on the internet over the next few years.
