The user is looking for long-term user acquisition strategies, particularly focusing on SEO and possibly GEO targeting to improve visibility and user engagement.
Hey all, wanted to share my journey and of course self-promote a little bit. I created a screen recorder chrome extension and launched it in November. It's called Zumie. Screen Studio and similar products are thriving right now, but because they are restricted to mac only I figured creating a smooth screen recorder that is right inside the browser is bound to have some market. So how did I get my initial users: 1. Have a nice landing page. I'm gonna be honest I 100% generated my landing page with Claude Sonnet at the time, and have received several compliments on it. It's simple, it's clear, I think that's why people like it. I did pick the font myself though! 2. Post on producthunt. No big preparing or anything, just a nice video and some nice product screenshots with gradient background. It received 120 upvotes and got my first few customers. 3. Post on reddit. I don't do this too much, because I don't want to be too spammy, but like once a month I try to create a journey post like this one here, and on r/chrome_extensions . Even if I don't get paid users, some activity and conversation around the product is always beneficial. 4. Free users export with watermarks, so if they share a video, they also do a little bit of advertising for me. They can also share now via a quick share link without downloading the video, which directly leads to my landing page like [zumie.io/share/123](http://zumie.io/share/123) 5. Searched for "screen studio alternatives reddit" in google, picked the top 10 results and commented on those threads to check out Zumie. Honestly this is such a low hanging fruit and is driving some consistent traffic, so I recommend you do this with your own competitors and genre. 6. List and relist on HN, indiehackers, peerlist, tinylaunch and so on. I try to do it as much as possible without being too spammy. 7. Right now I am trying to look into some long-term user acquisition with SEO, and possibly GEO. Getting cited in LLMs are probably going to be an even bigger market then SEO is right now. The traffic has been mostly organic, I get new sales quite often, and honestly I'm not 100% sure where they are coming from. Maybe some come from the chrome web store, some from google searches, some from reddit. I keep forcing myself to do more marketing, but as 99% of devs, I am struggling.
