In GitHub Copilot Chat within Visual Studio, the UI instructs users to use a 'paperclip' icon to attach context, but this icon is missing. Instead, a '+ Reference' control is present, leading to confusion about its function and whether attachment is limited to images. The user requests clarification and improvement of the UI wording for attaching context.
Visual Studio / GitHub Copilot users: I just submitted a Developer Community issue for what looks like a small but genuinely confusing UI problem in Visual Studio 2022 Enterprise v17.14.29. GitHub Copilot Chat tells the user to use a paperclip to attach context, but in the UI I do not actually see a paperclip icon. There is a + Reference control, and it is unclear whether that is supposed to be the same thing, or whether attachment support is limited to images. If you use Copilot Chat in Visual Studio, would you mind taking a look and voting on the issue if you think this should be clarified? https://lnkd.in/gHrq8SSh Clear UI wording matters, especially in onboarding and empty-state experiences. #VisualStudio #GitHubCopilot #CopilotChat #DeveloperExperience #UX #Microsoft
