Users are frustrated with excessively long ads that can exceed the length of the videos they are watching. They suggest that YouTube should implement stricter regulations on ad lengths to prevent this issue.
Idk I guess I’m just here to vent because I feel like I’m genuinely going crazy. I haven’t really heard anyone else speak about this specific thing. Lately, for like the past few months at this point I think, the ads I’ve been getting on YouTube have just been getting extensively longer and longer and longer. I don’t mean just the frequency, because that’s also partly up to the channel. I still get the standard 5-30 second ad for a new ai platform or a candy or whatever, but other than those, the ads are like 20-60 minutes long. I’ve gotten so many ads that are quite literally just another YouTube video?? How is that even possible to do? No, I don’t want to watch a 30 minute zoom call about your company, or a 45 minute bro-podcast episode. No, I don’t want to see you 20 minutes GRWM video. Like I’ve been getting SO MANY of these, it’s driving me insane. Thank goodness they’re skippable, but sometimes I’ll think to just let an ad play because I have a YouTube on in the background and my hands are full. But then I’ll think “hey it’s been a while” and check just to find the ad is halfway through and it’s been 22 minutes. Huh?!! Like what are we doing? What is going on? Most of the time, the ads are longer than the actual video I’m watching that it popped up on. Seriously YouTube?! Sorry this is really just kinda a rambled rant. I just wanna know, has anyone else noticed or been experiencing this at all? (Yes, I know I can get an ad blocker, which I think I’ll finally do because of this. But I think YouTube should still be called out for having really to rules or regulations around this because this is insane and shouldn’t be allowed to continue unchecked imo.)
