User finds the full Plaud subscription too expensive when they primarily need high-quality raw transcription to feed into their existing knowledge management system, which costs significantly less.
Hi everyone, I recently bought the **PLAUD Note Pro** to level up my daily productivity, which I already manage through **Recall AI**. For those who don't know it, **Recall AI** is an "all-in-one" knowledge base (think NotebookLM meets a power-user annotation tool). For just **$7/month**, it gives me: * Unlimited content summaries and chats (YouTube, Podcasts, PDFs, etc.). * The ability to chat with my entire knowledge base across multiple saved files. * Automatic categorization and a great Markdown-based writing tool. It works flawlessly for my digital life, and I feel those $7 are incredibly well-spent. **The Problem:** My goal with the PLAUD was to capture offline meeting audio and upload the transcripts to Recall to keep my knowledge library centralized. However, paying **\~$240/year** for the PLAUD subscription feels disproportionate when I only really need the **raw transcription**. The hardware is great, but the recurring software cost is nearly 3x what I pay for my entire knowledge management system. **My Question:** Does anyone have a suggestion for a tool or service that matches PLAUD’s transcription quality but at a more reasonable price point? * **Crucial:** I’m looking for something simple. I don't want a complex DIY Whisper setup, as I use multiple devices and need a seamless workflow. * **Note:** Otter or Notta does not differ much in price versus PLAUD * **Goal:** Just high-quality transcription of offline files to feed into Recall. BTW, if anyone wants to know more about how I use Recall AI, feel free to ask! Thanks in advance!
