Users desire deeper integration of AI capabilities directly within Figma, functioning as an embedded design assistant. This AI assistant should support more strategic and iterative design processes, going beyond quick mockups to help capture design nuance.
I don’t get it why some people say Figma is dead 🤔 Over the past few weeks, while working on MVP discovery for one of speek‘s products, I’ve been leaning on AI tools more than ever before to support every stage of the process, and it’s been a game changer for the discovery process. I’ve only used a couple of the mainstream tools (the most common ones such as ChatGPT, Lovable and Gemini), but they’ve helped me move faster through research and early ideation. As someone who doesn’t consider research a core strength, AI has really helped me ask better questions and extract more focused insights, which in turn has made me feel more confident in my design direction. My whole workflow already feels very different compared to just a few months ago, and I’m sure it’ll keep evolving as I test out new tools and figure out what clicks. That said, there’s one area where I’m still not fully sold: UI design. Tools like Lovable and Gemini are great for getting quick prototypes up and running, but when it comes to high-fidelity, polished UI that’s ready for dev handoff, I still find Figma indispensable. I’ve seen people say things like “Figma is dead” – but for me, it’s still the most efficient way to get to a pixel-perfect output, especially with a solid component library in place. Curious to hear from other designers: how are you blending AI into your workflow? And is anyone managing to make AI-generated UI actually handoff-ready? #UIDesign #ProductDesign #AIinDesign #Figma #UX #Prototyping #DesignTools
