The Tesla app's trip planner allows users to set departure time and battery percentage but lacks the option to specify a desired arrival battery percentage. This feature is crucial for planning subsequent driving or ensuring a buffer.
Just got a Model Y last week and so far it's been a dream, but I've also had to take two long(er) road trips and trying to plan around them has proven to be difficult in terms of giving rough estimates as to when I'd arrive to places AND knowing the battery % of when I'd be getting there if I wanted to arrive at a certain %, especially if I have people waiting on me. Hypothetical example: I need to leave tomorrow to go to Chicago at 9:30AM, and I'm going to leave my house at 80% battery. At some point during the trip I'm going to have to stop at a super charger (or two) and ideally I'd love to arrive to Chicago with at at least 30% battery remaining so I can drive around when I get there and not arrive at like 8%. The person I'm meeting in Chicago is asking what time I'd be there. Right now I have two (three?) options: **The Tesla App:** When using the Tesla app for creating a plan, I can set the day/time I want to leave as well as my % percentage I plan to be at when I leave, **but I can't set the battery % I'd like to be at when I arrive.** **The Nav app in the car:** I can map the route and set the battery % I'd like to arrive at, **but it only allows me to map it as if I was leaving right now, at the certain battery my car is at this exact moment in time.** **A Better Route Planner:** I've seen this app be recommended, but so far from what I'm seeing I'm seeing wild discrepencies between this and the Tesla app. Tesla is saying I'll have to stop for around 17min of charging to arrive at 8% battery. **ABRP app is saying if I drive straight there and don't stop at all for charging, I'll arrive to Chicago with 25% battery still remaining???** Note that I've customized the settings within the app to match my car including battery degredation and estimated (realistic) mileage of my car / model, so it's not that that's off. So far I'm not finding a good way to do this. I wish I could just merge both the Tesla app and the Tesla car nav system to work together. Ideally I'd love to create a route using the app, and set the day/time I'll leave, and set the % I'd like to arrive at, and the app creates a route that tells me how long I'd have to stop and charge to arrive at my desired battery %, and ultimately what my time of arrival will actually be. Right now it seems like the only way to do that is to just guess what time I'd get there, which is extra tricky because the chargers tend to charge at different speeds depending on their type and how many people are there at any given time (especially for older chargers).
