User wants a visual calendar to track meditation days vs. skipped days to help with motivation and maintaining practice, currently using a separate tracker for this.
I have long been a listener of Sam's and enjoyed some of the guided meditations he did early on in his podcast. I signed up for the app to start learning meditation in earnest, and have been using it for two months. Pro: - Guided meditations are taking me places that trying to do it on my own just counting breaths never took me. Outstanding! - Reminders are nice (though I was getting those from other apps) - The built in timer is nice - Some of the talks are nice to listen to and are very good I feel like I have made a very small but important amount of progress I never had before. Cons: - There's no visual calendar showing the days I meditated and did not. I struggle to maintain the practice. When I am stressed, making myself meditate is like looking into the sun. My mind doesn't want to go there. I'd like to be able to see a visual indicator of how often I am skipping vs. doing to help motivate me. I am using a separate tracker to log my meditation days so I can look at a year calendar and see the little dots, the percent success rate, etc. I realize this is a feature that would cost money to build, and I have a work around. - I joined a 14 day challenge. Given my issue above, I was unable to keep pace with the daily emails I was getting telling me to do things. I quickly was overwhelmed, felt too far behind to catch up. I do not see how to unsubscribe from it. I mailed support, and they told me to look at an email they sent to drop out, but also warned me I would not be able to go back. I can't find the email. Second, I don't understand why the challenge has punishment boundaries in it for those of us who are trying but failing to keep pace? Why can I not do an every other day challenge? It seems backward for an app on mindfulness to arbitrarily set up rules. Why can't the challenge just be a pull instead of a push with a deadline? Conclusion: Worth it for the guided meditations which are awesome. Timer is good. Lots of content in there that I am dubious I will listen to. Missing some things like visual tracking of success. The challenge ended up being demoralizing. I won't be doing that again.
