[Salesforce] Enable forecasting using quotes instead of opportunities

Currently, Salesforce only allows forecasting based on opportunities. Users want the ability to create forecasts using quotes, as their organization does not utilize opportunities.

Hi! I just started at a new company and they want me to set up salesforce for them. Daunting task but I think I can figure it out. My first task is to create a forecast for sales projected out 3 months. The only problem is they do not use opportunities they use quotes. The only option for setting up a forecast type is opportunities or opportunity product. How can I create a forecast without using opportunities? I tried making a custom object type and it still didn’t give me any other option besides opportunity and opportunity product. Is this even possible? Can I forecast using quotes instead of opportunities? Thanks!
