Users are experiencing contradictory feedback from different companies on the same design work, making it difficult to understand how to improve. A feature that consolidates feedback from multiple reviewers and highlights key differences could help designers navigate their applications better.
It is interesting how two companies/designers can perceive our work completely different, and this subjectiveness makes our job hunting harder. For context: I applied for Company 1 and Company 2 reached out to me directly. Both companies are B2B, and the design team has +80 people. I used the same case study for both applications, and some of their feedbacks went into completely different directions. Example (copying word by word): \_\_Company 1:\_\_ “We were impressed by your strong design execution skills and your ability to take end-to-end ownership in a small team environment. Your visual work clearly reflects your UI craft, and your willingness to wear multiple hats is commendable. \_\_Company 2:\_\_ “The UI felt quite dense at times, with opportunities to improve hierarchy, clarity, and visual weight — for example, making sure key information like critical alerts gets the prominence it deserves. We'd encourage you to push further on elevating the quality and distinctiveness of your craft, thinking not just about what solves the immediate need but what feels considered, refined, and forward-looking.” Other examples were related to collaboration, ownership and domain knowledge. One company said “well done” and the other “not so well”. Both decided to not move forward with my application, anyways. I know companies have different standards of what a good design/designer is, but getting contradictory feedbacks doesn’t help much in moving forward.
