I am a complete beginner looking to get into modular synth. I'm unsure about the practical aspects of using the synth so I'm not sure what features I need and what I don't. I would mostly want to create multi layered ambient soundscapes for my songs ( I play electric guitar and program drums with renoise.) I would also be interested in making entirely ambient with the synths. I'm under the impression I need something polyphonic if im doing multi layered ambient stuff. Behringer Neutron I saw recommended a lot, but it has stuff like overdrive and delay. I'm wondering if Id benefit more from getting another, possibly multiple more basic semi-modular units and pairing with the guitar pedals I already have. I saw a few videos, a couple from Andrew Huang where they used randomizing in sequences and did generative stuff, id also be curious about doing that I also plan on pairing whatever I get with an Arturia Keystep 37 for midi/cv control and sequencing. Im a complete beginner so any information is appreciated. Thanks!
