Wrote a question I get asked by my customers a lot in ChatGPT. My company was never mentioned. Three competitors were mentioned. Repeatedly. Without ever being asked about by name. Simply as the solution. I’ve had a business for 7 years. Good word of mouth. Good Google rankings. Meaningless. Apparently, there is a new way to measure if you’re a success or a failure. Not Google rankings. Not Google ad results. But does the AI recommend you when a customer asks a question your company should answer? There is no Google console or alert system to tell you if you’re failing in this way. You simply stop being part of the conversation your customer is having with the world, before they ever get to your website. Tested this on a few other businesses I know. Same results. Try it on your own business. Ask ChatGPT or Perplexity the question your best customers asked before they chose to work with you. See what comes up. May change the work I do this quarter.
