A user suggests establishing a platform where caregivers can anonymously share their stories and connect with others facing similar challenges. This would help caregivers feel seen and heard for their experiences.
Posting for a friend who doesn’t use reddit. Apologies if this isn’t allowed. ‘My name is Daniel Shariat and I am a 24 year old incoming medical student. I have been a caregiver for 10 years, and for most of those years, I have forced myself to juggle those responsibilities in addition to being a student-athlete. I never sat down to reflect and let those feelings I ignored bubble to the surface. It was not until my therapist suggested that I write a letter to my father’s Multiple Sclerosis that I sat down to lay my heart bare on the page. I created a free substack page called “QuietHands” to provide caregivers with an anonymous platform where they can share a story that showcases their reality and to connect them with others going through similar hardships. My goal is to establish a community where caregivers feel seen and heard for the long, draining hours they put in behind the scenes. If you are interested in joining our community, I will link to our substack page and story submission form below. Thank you for all you do!’ Substack: https://quiethands26.substack.com/subscribe?params=%5Bobject%20Object%5D Story Submission: https://forms.gle/UZ85gX3Gae4CNhco6
