User is frustrated by a mandatory app for gate access, citing issues like dead phones, forgotten phones, elderly users without smartphones, and app downtime. They request that the app be optional and alternative access methods (e.g., key fobs, codes) be available.
Please tell me I’m not crazy and this is actually insane? You’re telling me I’m going to have to stop at the gate, get on an app on my phone, hope that this random app is functioning properly, and use that to get into my own neighborhood? What if my phone is dead? What if I forgot my phone at home? What if an elderly neighbor doesn’t use a smartphone or download apps? What if the app is down for maintenance or otherwise not functioning and doesn’t open the gate?? Has anyone else’s apartment complex made this transition??? WHO ASKED FOR THIS?? I did send them an email with basically everything I just said. I also said “Please don’t make this mandatory. Not everything needs to be an app”. Why can’t this just be optional for people who want this?!
