The SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless (Xbox version) emits a loud white noise burst every time Bluetooth audio starts on macOS. This occurs even when using AirPods Quality Fix software and setting the input to the MacBook built-in mic.

Headset is amazing overall, sound is great, build quality is great, I really like it. But there’s something driving me insane and I need help. In bluetooth mode, every single time a sound starts I get a VERY loud white noise burst for like 2 to 3 seconds. It’s like a flashbang in my ears. Happens with youtube, system sounds, whatsapp notifications, anything. If audio was idle for a few seconds and then a new sound comes in = 3 seconds of white noise in my head. Before anyone says bluetooth quality or mic mode, I already know all that. I know bluetooth switches to hands free and mic quality gets bad. I’m not using the headset mic. I’m even using AirPods Quality Fix software to force macOS to use another mic source. I set the input to the MacBook built in mic, not the Nova Pro mic. So it’s NOT the classic hands free low quality issue. Even doing that, every new sound = loud white noise for 3 seconds. I have 2 pcs, 1 Mac and 1 Windows. I wanted to use both with 2.4ghz but since the DAC has 1 USB and 1 USB C labeled Xbox, the Xbox port doesn’t really work properly as a second 2.4 input on Mac. So I’m forced to use bluetooth on one machine. Is this a firmware bug? Power saving issue? Codec switching? Amazing headset but this bluetooth behavior is super frustrating. Any help appreciated 🙏
