User was unable to take a screenshot of a digital bus ticket for backup due to the app blocking screen captures, citing fraud prevention. This negatively impacts user experience. The user suggests allowing screenshots but overlaying them with dynamic watermarks, timestamps, or user IDs to balance security and user convenience.
Interesting feature I found this week… I was back in my hometown running the Great North Run this weekend (1:43:55 🎉) and used the Go North East app to buy a digital bus ticket. Worried I might lose data along the route, I tried to take a screenshot as a backup, only to be met with the warning in the image attached. I even tried screen recording, but got the same outcome. For me this is a great example of tackling a real business problem (fraudulent ticket sharing) but at the cost of the user experience. It feels like the majority of genuine customers are being penalised for the actions of a few. Fraud prevention is absolutely important, but maybe there’s a cleaner way to do this? For example, allowing screenshots but overlaying them with a dynamic watermark, timestamp, or user ID. Would love to know other people’s thoughts on this?
