User wants a Bluetooth OBD scanner like the ThinkCar ThinkDiag Mini that is easy to use for quick tasks (e.g., turning off engine lights) and simple enough to lend to others without needing a full Windows laptop setup.
Hi all, Currently I have a mixed bag of diagnostic tools: - VCDS – genuine (direct from Ross-Tech, but with a 3 VIN limit) - Techstream – got this from a friend (I have a number of Toyota/Lexus cars) - Delphi – from AliExpress, but what a great bit of kit! All of the above need a Windows laptop, and I have a Surface Pro running them (bought only for these tools). The issue I’ve run into is that people come to me looking to borrow my scanners, and I won’t lend these out for a number of reasons. I was thinking of buying a cheap Samsung tablet and getting a ThinkCar Bluetooth OBD scanner from AliExpress for two reasons: 1. So I don’t have to pull out my Surface and tools for a quick “engine light off” job 2. So when someone wants to borrow a scanner, I can hand them this and it’s easy to use My question is: has anyone used, or does anyone have, the THINKCAR ThinkDiag Mini Bluetooth OBD2 scanner? Is it any good? Or what would you guys recommend? I’m not a mechanic, but I do a lot of work and can understand basic scanner functions, reading live data, etc. Side question – I’m thinking of upgrading my VCDS cable to an unlimited VIN version (€400 to do so), so I can start going to car meets and plugging into VW/Audi cars to enable features (needle sweep, etc.). Would you guys pay for this? (say €20–50 per session) Thank you
