A user is building a restaurant discovery platform and is seeking advice on the best go-to-market strategy. They want to ensure the app allows users to easily discover restaurants by categories and search effectively.
Hi everyone, I’m building a restaurant and café discovery platform focused on a single city first. The idea is to create a specialized directory where users can easily discover places by categories, search, and map. The platform has two sides: • Users: discover restaurants, browse categories, search, and explore the map. • Merchants (restaurant owners): manage their page, update menus, and showcase their place. My current model is freemium for both sides: \- Users: free to use the app. \- Merchants: free basic listing, with optional premium features later. My current plan is to launch in one small city first, learn from real usage, fix problems, and then expand to larger cities. My main question: What would be the best Go-To-Market strategy for something like this? Should I focus more on: \- Acquiring restaurants first? \- Acquiring users first? \- Or both at the same time? Any advice from people who launched two-sided marketplaces would be really helpful. Thanks!
