The user wants a way to extrude the shape back so that there are no undercuts, rather it just goes straight back. The whole engraving depth will only be 0.5mm so it wont be particularly noticeable.
Hi guys. I have a model that ive made. Im still a beginner with this stuff but i have made a bas relief with 3d models ive made separately and imported and arranged. Problem is, i dont want there to be space behind the subjects, as there would be undercuts. Imagine the result that would be produced by CNCing the model. The bit wouldnt be able to get behind the subjects. THAT is what i want my model to look like because i will be using EZCAD3 to laser engrave it onto metal and the software will interpret the space behind as area which needs to be engraved and will ruin the surface finish. Its going to be a medallion engraved into sterling silver so i would prefer to get it right first time. I will attach a photo to show my actual model later as i am on my phone at the moment so i will just attach one that i got off of google highlighting my issue. I am looking for a way to extrude the shape back so that there are no undercuts, rather it just goes straight back. The whole engraving depth will only be 0.5mm so it wont be particularly noticeable. I have tried to use the modelling tools to build up the space behind it but i cant make it look good, so any other recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you very much in advance for any suggestions
