Users are frustrated by the lack of safeguards on dating apps, including issues with fake profiles and a general feeling of insecurity. There's a need for features that improve user safety and verification processes to create a more enjoyable and trustworthy experience.
There’s a lack of love this Valentine’s day 💔 The data shows we’re not only slowly giving up on dating apps, we’re swiping left on relationships themselves. In both the UK and the US, there’s been a rise of singledom amongst 25-34 year olds: the % of that age group that’s in a couple has dropped from c.70% to c.55% in the last 15 years. Part of the problem is dating app fatigue, driven in part by, sorry to say it, too many ads. The chart shows that users for the five biggest dating apps peaked in 2021, and has been slowly declining since. Users were down 10% by 2024. In big cities, there are alternative ways of meeting people like run clubs or real life meets that don’t involve mindless swiping. And, elsewhere, daters are trying to beat the fatigue by using a portfolio of apps and meeting people where they actually engage. But if you believe we all need a little love, today’s the day to act. Send that real life card, or DM. And if you have any marketing or data related love puns, please add them in the comments. We love a pun at magic HQ, and you’d make our day. 🚩If you want to understand how to balance your brand and performance marketing, you’ll love my Scaling Up Works course (and the puns it includes) starting 29th April.
