A user is seeking advice on how to regularize their immigration status in Canada after arriving as a child and having their initial application dismissed due to a parent's legal issues. The system should provide resources and guidance for individuals in similar situations.
This is gonna be harder to explain over text but I want to give it my best shot in hopes of some advice or a direction I can be pointed towards to improve my situation. Im 25f was born in America. Due to financial issues my family and two year old me had move to Canada with family. This is where the story gets fuzzy for me as I was just an infant and going off information I’ve been told apparently when coming to Canada the airport immigration allowed my mother to fly me without any papers. I’ve asked multiple times and she said she doesn’t understand how it even happened but it was some sort of miracle at that time. The problem really starts a couple years down the line while my papers along with my parent who was also an American citizen are being processed for Canada he does something illegal and very bad he gets kicked out of the country, all his papers and mine are thrown out case is basically dismissed once again not sure completely how that worked but it’s what I was told. So I’m now around seven years old without any papers or documents the whole process had to be restarted. My mom completely panicked thinking her child might be deported back to the states goes to talk to immigration about everything that has happened and the next steps she should take for me the lawyers told her that I will be fine as I’m enrolled in school here and they have some sort of documentation on me that to not worry about anything until I’m older. As a newly single mother to three kids this was a huge relief and life continued on till I was around fifteen and started thinking about working and my future. I asked my mom about my papers and what I need to be able to work she said that it will be a long process and money which was never something we had extra of living pay check to pay check. It’s something to just got pushed off but was always in the back of my mind as I knew it’s something I need to start my life. This goes back and forth for a few more years draining on my mental as I see classmates and friend get their firsts jobs and cars progress further in life . I tell my mom how important this is to me and the future she understands but also has no idea how to go about my situation. Im now twenty five have had multiple meetings with immigration agents and they tell us they have no clue how i manage to get here with no extra funds how do i start this long and grueling process or what exactly can i do to make money for me to start the process I find it difficult especially as an American immigrant there are no benefits or set ups for me that I at least know of anything advice would help greatly this is a very sensitive topic and have been hesitant about sharing this story with others thank you for reading.
