The user reports that Viome's food recommendations changed significantly between tests, with foods moving from "avoid" to "superfood" categories without clear explanation. They request more consistency and clarity in the recommendations.
I spent most of 2025 running a [self-experiment with Viome's Gut Intelligence Test](https://doafitzgerald.substack.com/p/viome-review-gut-health-intelligence) after learning about the impacts of gut health on longevity. I'm a Product Manager, and do these nerdy activities like exploring different HealthTech gadgets, test kits, etc. I wife-pressured my husband to get on this journey as well. He went all in for 4 months and I for 9 months, following all of their recommendations (diet and supplements). The results? Not what I expected. * **My** **leaky** **gut** **markers** **worsened** **after** **9** **months** **of** **compliance** * **Recommendations** **contradicted** **themselves** **between** **tests** — foods moved from "avoid" to "superfood" categories with no clear explanation beyond "the microbiome is dynamic" * **Results** **seemed** **heavily** **influenced** **by** **the** **health** **goals** **I** **selected** in the questionnaire, rather than being purely driven by biological data I didn't let this mystery go. Over several weeks, I poked every part of Viome's web and app, read a ton of clinical trials on microbiome science (that were not conducted by Viome), and even reached out to the Viome team (and got their responses!). I also worked with GPT5 to dig into specific questions, like why Viome was only asking for one stool sample when clinical standards typically call for 2-3 samples across different days to account for variability. I wrote up the full experience, including my research findings and Viome's response to my queries, in detail here: [https://doafitzgerald.substack.com/p/viome-review-gut-health-intelligence](https://doafitzgerald.substack.com/p/viome-review-gut-health-intelligence) Curious to hear the experiences of others with Viome. Did your recommended foods and supplements change significantly between test rounds? And if anyone has done reliability testing? Sending multiple samples back-to-back under different names to test consistency. I only found one person who did that so far.
