HELP! I need your advice on note-taking tools. I'm in multi-app hell... All I want is a tool that provides note-taking, a CRM and project management all in one place. It needs to be intuitive, easy-to-use and not add the time burden of a steep learning curve. Here's what I've tried: NOTION What I like: - it's flexible and clever - relational databases are cool - it's easy to build knowledge bases What I hate: - it's 'Top down': you have to categorise things before you write them - it's actually pretty slow for note-taking, so often I've forgotten the thought before I can find the right place to put it. MOTION What I like: - Its core feature, the ability to move tasks around in your calendar depending on availability, is really cool - the ability to build templates for repeated project types and connect actions together - calendar sync - calendar invite links What I hate: - the calendar rearranger feels like a robot boss who cracks the whip and the work is never done - no note-taking or CRM - doesn't play well with other apps TANA What I like: - it captures notes at the speed of thought: hit a button, speak or write, add a tag, done. - the daily scratch pad at the centre put all your notes in one place per day - supertags mean you can connect notes together and automatically have a page for different note types - it's bottom-up, you make the note THEN decide where it goes - voice-to-text is accurate and effective What I hate: - it feels like it's designed by developers not product people. Do do anything other than note-taking is a steep learning curve - you can't copy and paste from a chunk of writing. It makes everything a 'node', which is standalone - to copy you have to use desktop, publish mode, then export / copy. So it's not good for writing articles. - apparently you can use as a CRM but it's SUPER complicated to learn - no project management features. APPLE NOTES What I like - Ubiquitous - easy to use - type, format, done What I hate - Again, top-down. You have to decide where your note lives and that adds friction, so sometimes I miss the thought as it flits by. - Linking notes together hasn't really worked for me - Tables don't calculate - No project management, CRM, etc. OBSIDIAN Not tried - put off by the fact it's not in the cloud. EVERNOTE Used to use this - put off my the agressive, constant upsells. Ideally I want an app that combines: - Tana's speed-of-thought capture - Motion's project management and auto calendar rescheduler (but less dictatorial) - Notion's relational databases Any ideas? What do you use?
