The user finds the software on the XTool D7 scan tool to be 'pretty meh at best', indicating a general need for better software quality and performance.
Been out of the dealership for a few years now, i had 3-4 scan tools that i used for various brands that i mainly work with now ( protool / ista for BMW, Forscan for Ford, etc.) and i had just recently had a cheap $100 scan tool i bought on amazon a few years back back. Seems like a lot of the reviews on amazon now are either inaccurate or bought. I bought an Xtool D7 and while it gets the job done, the software is pretty meh at best and the tiny screen bugs the hell out of me considering the keyboard takes 2/3rds of it (and it wont go away unless you back out and return). I’ve tried searching reddit and a lot of the results im finding are entry level DIY’ers thinking expensive equipment solves all your problems. **I dont mind paying for the right tool if it means i only need the one tool**, but the Snap-on and other similar brands are laughably expensive when i’m sure there’s a copy cat for half the price What’s your recommendations for someone who will use it everyday? Not looking for cheap, but also don’t want a $4,000 scan tool.
