Users are reporting significant battery drain (down to 0% overnight) on Surface Laptop devices after recent updates, even when the device is shut down or in sleep mode. The battery report shows a 10-20% drain per hour, compared to the normal 1% every hour or two. This is intermittent and power plan adjustments haven't fixed it.
I'm seeing reports from several users here that the battery percentage is down to 0 overnight on a Surface Laptop 6 device. The device should be asleep and some users even shutdown at the end of the day. This just started 2-3 weeks ago, and users' routines have not changed. it's not every time, but on about 50% of shutdowns. I also have reports of the device getting hot while in a carry bag. This only seems to be affecting Surface Laptop 6's and there were a couple verifications in another thread. I'm opening up 3 cases with Microsoft and am posting here so folks know it's not necessarily and end user or individual device issue. The battery report shows the battery dropping 10-20% per hour while shut down or sleeping/hibernating. When there is not an issue it's 1% every hour or 2. I've adjusting PowerPlan settings and sleep timeouts with no change and the issue remains intermittent. Does anyone have a fix for this yet? if so please post!
