Claude's AI presentation generation capabilities are limited by the inability to upload existing PowerPoint files. Users need to be able to upload a PPT file to serve as a branding guide or template for new AI-generated presentations.
This morning I was excited to see that Claude now supports generating Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and PDFs — ready to download and use immediately. My first thought? Is this the inflection point where consultants can do their jobs in half the time? Having spent time with Microsoft Copilot, I’ve found it surprisingly effective for generating Word documents, especially if you include reference material in an appendix. It can automatically cite and incorporate context, which saves me a ton of time. But when it comes to PowerPoint, it’s still pretty basic. So I tested Claude’s new capabilities. Verdict? Still early days. - No ability to upload PowerPoint files (so forget prompts like “use this PPT as a branding guide”). - I had to convert decks to PDF just to extract branding elements. - Slide generation was slightly better than Copilot (maybe a 5–10% improvement) but still far from the holy grail of branded, high-quality decks using company templates. I’ll keep waiting for the PPT AI revolution. But for now, Word is where the magic happens. Curious - has anyone cracked the code on AI-generated PowerPoint yet? Would love to hear your experience, and fast, I've got a presentation to write!
