The current AirTag shape is inconvenient for flat compartments or document organizers, often requiring extra accessories. A flatter, card-shaped design would allow it to easily slide into pockets.
I know most of the discussion right now is centered around AirTag and the Apple ecosystem. On a few recent trips, I tried using both an AirTag and a card tracker from PunCube to keep track of my luggage and some travel documents. From a placement and usability perspective, there’s a noticeable difference. AirTag works fine when you drop it into a suitcase or backpack, but once you try to use it in flatter compartments or document organizers, the shape becomes a bit inconvenient and usually requires extra accessories. The card tracker is much simpler in that situation since it just slides into a flat pocket without any extra setup. In terms of tracking, both basically serve the same purpose for me. I mostly care about checking the last known location, especially during flights, layovers, or right after arriving somewhere, rather than trying to track something in real time. On Android, AirTag is quite limited, so the experience feels restricted. The card works with both iOS and Android, and the setup is straightforward without being tied to a specific ecosystem. Overall, PunCube works on both iOS and Android, which makes things easier when you travel with different people or switch devices. AirTag is fantastic if you’re fully in Apple, but obviously less flexible outside that setup. Curious how do you handling luggage tracking and whether there’s a more reliable setup out there.
