User needs a pillow that provides stable support for the sides of the head when sleeping on the back, preventing the head from leaning excessively. Existing pillows either lack side support or push the neck too high. They envision a "super thick pillow with a chunk cut out of the middle" creating a "narrow pillow canyon" to limit head rotation and provide support around the ears/temples.
I am looking for a pillow that I hope will help with persistent upper back pain. I find that when I sleep on my back, the sides of my head need more support than any pillow can provide. My head is constantly leaning to one side or the other searching for support around my ear or temple. Unfortunately, too long twisted to one side causes pain. Pillows that push my neck up too high also cause pain. I’ve tried a lot of cervical and regular pillows without success. I’m looking for something that is basically like a super thick pillow with a chunk cut out of the middle. Basically a narrow pillow canyon so my head doesn’t have to turn more than 20-30 degrees to find support. I’ve tried DIYing this, but the foam was uncomfortable and bumpy after cutting it. Any suggestions? Either for pillows or other ways to stabilize my head?
