A veteran driver explains current safety protocols and highlights that Uber/Lyft do not provide a picture of the passenger or confirm the name on the account, leading to issues with nicknames/aliases. This implies a need for better passenger identification for drivers.
NO! I’m sorry that’s not the way it works. The driver is never supposed to reveal personal information from the writer. The passenger has the responsibility to check the license plate, the make and model of the vehicle and match the photograph from the app with the driver. Once those steps have been taken place, the passenger will say their name to the driver the driver will say their name to the passenger. For added confirmation, the driver and the passenger can show each other’s phone to each other. Once all those safety precautions have been taken on both parts, then the passenger can give the driver the code. Passengers need to understand that at this point in time Uber does not give us a picture of the passenger or cannot confirm the name that is on the account. Too many passengers have nicknames or aliases under their account. I’m a veteran driver that has been with Uber & Lyft for the past six years. I have picked up over 9348 on Lyft and over 1344 rides with Uber. Sativa so I can definitely say I have plenty of experience driving for a rideshare.
