The user is considering Tesla but is concerned about the bad range and slow charging in cold weather.
@elonmusk Well, after two EV's in a year I am starting to consider Tesla for real. We got the Bz4x in April of 2024. A 2022 prod. car with 0 miles. Good car, well built, comfortable, but not quite suited for our needs. Bad range in cold weather, slow charging in cold weather. So we got the Ioniq 6. Bc we drive Norway-Greece once a year, and thus range and charge speed matters. A lot. The Ioniq 6 is an amazing EV, drives good, seems well built (well not quite), comfortable, efficiant, good range even in cold weather, charges superfast, but... It - in some variant - probably developed the dreaded ICCU problem. Expept it runs, but has a shitload of issues developing after 1-2 hours highway driving. But bc the actual fault code states "communication with Vehicle Charging Management System (VCMS) lost" - it reports nothing. Zero. Only when fault is present. And it does not store codes/reports on things like -Loss of power -Loss of regen -very uneven power while driving (think whiplash) -5-10 mins to initiate DC-charging. -Loss of AWD incl ESP. -Drivetrain noise when the problems are present. -Slow screen when the problems are present. -Code U130E87 when problem is present. Nothing reported in car, app, no warnings, no nothing. So. Dealer; "issue is not present while scanning, so there is no problem...". Clearly a heat/thermal issue. When the T reaches 30-35 C here in Greece it will show itself (am on an Island w. zero highways). And when they can't resolve it they will get the car back. So. I want to know of real people's experience with the Model Y Uniper. How is it driving long distances? We do 70-80% loong trips as of annual usage. Any honest input is valued. Thank you.
