A user is frustrated that thrift stores no longer offer high-quality vintage goods, but instead are filled with almost-new, cheap home decor. A feature to filter items by age would be helpful.
My adult son and I enjoy thrifting even though we usually don't buy anything. We didn't purchase anything today either but it felt different, now that I really understand how much of this stuff will end up in the landfill. There were tons of Christmas decorations- figurines, wreaths, stocking hangers, lights, greenery, etc. None of it looked more than a year or two old. Also tons of Christmas sweaters and pajamas, mostly thin and cheap. You want cookie cutters? They have them. Serving platters? Go to the thrift. Everyone who got a coffee cup last Christmas has apparently donated it. Real art apparently does not exist anymore. Everyone buys "art" at Home Goods or TJ Maxx and then ditches it in a year or two. There was just an overwhelming amount of stuff, and most of it was almost new. I've been thrifting since the 80s. You used to be able to get high quality vintage goods at the thrift store. I feel like those days are over. The parking lot was PACKED. We left empty handed. It was good to get out of the house but honestly this was a little unsettling.
