Users are finding that ChatGPT recommends only a small percentage of local businesses, even those with good reviews and online presence. A feature to enhance local business visibility in recommendations could help users find relevant services more effectively.
Stumbled onto some data that honestly shocked me. SOCi analyzed 350,000 local business locations and found that ChatGPT recommends only 1.2% of them. Gemini - 11%. Perplexity - 7.4%. Google Local Pack - 35.9%. I checked for my wife's beauty salon in Kyiv/Warsaw she has good reviews, decent website, ranks well on Google. ChatGPT didn't mention her at all. Three competitors showed up instead. Turns out you can be #1 on Google and completely invisible to AI search. Different systems, different rules. Quick way to check (takes 5 min): 1. Open [chatgpt.com](http://chatgpt.com) → "Best \[your industry\] in \[your city\]" 2. Try the same on [gemini.google.com](http://gemini.google.com) 3. Try [perplexity.ai](http://perplexity.ai) 4. Try [claude.ai](http://claude.ai) Note: are you mentioned? What position? Who appears instead? Curious — has anyone here actually checked this? What did you find?
